South Asian Speaking Children’s Counselor (Part-time, 24 hours)
REPORTS TO: Children’s Program Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain caseload of shelter and non-shelter counseling cases, providing individual, group, family, and parenting counseling.
- Provide in-person advocacy and case management services to child clients.
- Supervise weekly structural activities and special events for children and families.
- Mentor Program coordination, involvement in: recruitment, mentor training, mentor supervision monitoring attendance, site visits.
- Work collaboratively with Children’s Program staff to create a welcoming and friendly environment for clients in counseling rooms and shelters
- Monitor the condition of counseling rooms, Children’s Program files, donations, and supplies.
- Prepare case notes, program reports and statistical reports as needed.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Task supervision to interns and volunteers
- Any tasks as assigned by Executive Director
QUALIFICATION:
- Must be flexible with schedule, some evening and weekend hours required
- Graduated from or currently enrolled in a master degree program in Psychology, Social Work, Art Therapy or related field highly preferred or bachelor degree in above fields with at least one year direct work with children.
- Counseling experience, working with children and/or women in areas of: violence against women; child abuse; Asian community
- Bi-lingual in an South Asian language, preferably in Bengali
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to be self-directed, highly motivated
