Cao O, Executive Director, Testified on Issues of Suicide Among Asian Women



On December 7, Cao O, Executive Director, testified at a joint hearing of the New York State Assembly Committee on Mental Health, Mental Retardation, and Developmental Disabilities, the Puerto Rican/Hispanic Task Force, and the Task Force on Women’s Issues on the high rates of attempted suicide among Asian and Hispanic women.  Drawing upon the Federation’s research and program in the areas of mental health and elder care, Cao’s testimony illustrated the unique emotional difficulties faced by Asian women, both young and old.  He also offered a series of recommendations towards improving care and access to services.
