Asian American Federation Responds to Concept Paper on Anti-Poverty Funding

The Asian American Federation responds to a solicitation of comments from the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) on its NDA Concept Paper, a document to reveal how DYCD proposes to distribute federally funded Anti-Poverty block grants. In its response, the Federation calls for better Asian representation in the funding structure’s community advisory body, which helps to determine funding priorities. DYCD is also urged to operate with a greater transparency in promoting community participation and decision making. The Federation is convening a meeting with its member agencies to strategize ways to encourage greater participation from the Asian American community in the process.
