Asian Professional Extension (APEX) Appoints New Executive Director



Kristy Nguyen

Kristy brings to APEX over 15 years of nonprofit management experience and a strong track record of strategic program development, fundraising, corporate partnership development and operations.

Kristy was most recently the Executive Vice President of Working In Support of Education (w!se), where she has held a variety of positions since 1995. w!se is an educational 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing educational support services nationwide, building financial literacy, fostering business and social entrepreneurship, and preparing students for college and the global workplace. w!se focuses its services on urban secondary school students in low-to-moderate-income areas.

At w!se, Kristy was instrumental in administering and implementing the $1 million JPMChase Foundation Financial Literacy Grants Program. In addition, she served as the Director of the Sanford Weill Institute for Lifelong Learning at the High School of Economics & Finance, one of the more innovative New York City public high schools, and she developed new nationwide educational programs with partners such as Merrill Lynch and the European Commission.

Kristy earned a B.A. in Political Science from University of California, San Diego, and is expecting her M.A. in Educational Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University, this year. Kristy is a parent of two young children, including a 1st grader, who currently attends PS124 in Chinatown.
