Asian American Federation Democratic Mayoral Candidates Straw Poll Results

The Asian American Federation’s Democratic Mayoral Candidates Forum was held on April 9th at the Time Warner Center.  Co-sponsoring the event was the Asian and Pacific Employee Exchange at Time Warner (APEX).

Candidates spent twenty minutes each with an esteemed panel of journalists and community leaders answering questions ranging from how they would transform our City’s education system to changes in regulations that they would make to be more supportive of and culturally sensitive to immigrant businesses, and from providing stable support to child care programs to increasing economic security of low-wage workers and working-poor families.

Thank you to Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Former City Comptroller William Thompson, Former City Councilmember Sal Albanese, Public Advocate Bill DeBlasio, and current City Comptroller John Liu.

Thanks also go to our panelists Lotus Chau from Sing Tao Daily, David S. Chen from the Chinese-American Planning Council.(CPC), Danny Shin from the Korea Daily, and Arun Venugopal from WNYC.  Special note of appreciation to the evening’s moderator Shazia Kahn from NY1 who ably handled two and a half hours of discussion.

At the end of the evening, audience members were asked to participate in a straw poll, selecting the candidate that would get their vote based on the forum.  The results are:

•  John Liu:
•  Bill de Blasio:
•  Sal Albanese:
•  Christine C. Quinn:
