The Asian American Federation (AAF)'s analysis has found that as of July 8, 2020, Asians overall are lagging behind the citywide self-response rate. Maps of Asian neighborhoods with low self-response rates are included to highlight Census tracts most at-risk of an undercount. |
AAF Analysis Shows Asian New Yorkers Are Being Undercounted in the 2020 Census |
The Asian American Federation (AAF)'s analysis has found that as of May 6, 2020, Asian-majority census tracts in New York City had an average response rate of 44.7% compared with a citywide self-response rate of 46.1%. Certain Asian neighborhoods had even lower self-reponse rates. |
Research Highlights the Growth in Asian Communities and Eligible Voters
in New York State Legislative Districts |
The Asian American Federation (AAF) has released their most recent demographic profiles on the Asian communities within each of the legislative districts in New York State ahead of the upcoming 2020 Census. The profiles reveal that Asian Americans remain one of New York State's fastest-growing communities. This growth is most pronounced in the upstate regions of New York. The population estimates for 2018 reveal that since 2010, the Asian population grew by 33 percent or more in the Capital District, Mohawk Valley, and Western New York regions of the state. |
